Teaching empathy and compassion through the human–animal connection
At the heart of Rescue Angels is the belief that animals have a unique ability to teach us some of life’s most important values—kindness, empathy, and compassion.
Through classroom visits, youth programs, and interactive workshops, Rescue Angels helps students explore the emotional connection between humans and animals. By understanding the experiences of shelter pets, young people begin to develop a deeper sense of empathy and responsibility toward all living beings.
When children learn compassion early, they grow into adults who lead with kindness and care for the world around them.
Education
Bringing communities together to support animals in need
Rescue Angels believes that meaningful change happens when communities come together with a shared purpose.
Through donation drives, volunteer opportunities, community events, and partnerships with local shelters and organizations, Rescue Angels connects individuals with tangible ways to make a difference. These initiatives provide shelters with much-needed resources while empowering people to take an active role in helping animals in their communities.
By turning compassion into action, communities become powerful advocates for animals in need.

Rescue Angels works to increase visibility for adoptable pets through creative initiatives, storytelling, and special events designed to highlight the unique personalities of shelter animals. By sharing their stories and bringing attention to animals waiting for homes, Rescue Angels helps connect loving families with pets in need.

Virginia Tech Homecoming Royalty
As the Virginia Tech Homecoming Queen, I used my platform to lead and fund student-centered programming that connected students with shelter animals through service, education, and community engagement initiatives.
Animal Care for Education Course at Virginia Tech
Through Rescue Angels, I partnered with the Virginia Tech School of Animal Science to fund the creation of the Animal Care for Education course, allowing students to gain hands-on experience working with shelter animals while learning about behavior, welfare, and adoption.
Adoption Fashion Show (Hokie Designers)
Through my organization Hokie Designers, I produced Virginia Tech’s first adoption fashion show—using fashion and storytelling to highlight adoptable pets and connect them with loving homes.
PAW Pack Program (with Richmond Animal League)
Through a partnership with Richmond Animal League, I lead PAW Pack Days in schools where students create care kits for shelter animals while learning compassion, responsibility, and the human–animal bond.
